Falling in Love with Bruges
I grew up in West Flanders, surrounded by the beauty of the Flemish countryside. A few years ago I moved to Bruges — and from the very first day, I knew this city was something special. Walking its winding streets, discovering hidden courtyards and quiet canals, I fell completely in love with the place I now call home.
That passion inspired me to become a licensed city guide. I founded Backstreets of Bruges with a simple mission: to share the city I love in a way that goes far beyond the guidebooks. I believe the best way to understand Bruges is to walk its backstreets, to discover the forgotten churches and the local haunts that make this city truly special.
Every tour I lead is personal. I don't follow a script — I follow the energy of the group, weaving together history, architecture, local legends, and personal anecdotes to create an experience that's unique every time. Whether we're tasting chocolate in a 200-year-old workshop or watching the sunset from a secret viewpoint, my goal is always the same: to help you fall in love with Bruges the way I did.

Our Philosophy
Beyond the Guidebook
We venture where most tours don't dare — into the quiet alleys, the hidden squares, and the stories that only a local could know. The real Bruges isn't on the postcards.
Stories, Not Scripts
Every tour is a conversation, not a lecture. We adapt to your curiosity, answering questions and exploring tangents that make each walk genuinely one of a kind.
Respect for the City
We keep our groups small to protect the atmosphere of the places we visit. We support local businesses and contribute to preserving the heritage that makes Bruges extraordinary.
